#4. I GIVE THANKS AND PRAY AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF INGRATITUDE

Heavenly Father,

I thank You for Your Word in 2 Timothy 3:2 which warns: “For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy…”
Today I lift up that spirit of ingratitude before Your throne, and those persons who return evil for good.
Proverbs 17:13 says, “ He who returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.”

O Lord, where I may have sinned in this regard, I ask for forgiveness, as I forgive others for their sins against me.

Jesus, in Luke 17:17-18, highlighted this spirit of ungratefulness when He answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine--where are they? "Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?"

Lord, help me to be quick to thank God for His mercy and goodness towards me. Let me not be counted among the ungrateful.

O Lord, in times of need, persons will forget the good that you do for them.

Your servant David recalls:

Psalm 109:5 - Thus they have repaid me evil for good. And hatred for my love.

Psalm 41:9 - “Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.”

Concerning Your servant Joseph, it is written in Genesis 40:23

“Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.”

O Lord, don't let the ingratitude stir up bitterness and resentment within me.

You will be my Judge.

Your word is clear in 1 Samuel 15:23.

‘For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.’ For the most part, rebellion is birthed from ungratefulness. I pluck that sin of ungratefulness out of the hearts of my loved ones and friends, and I intercede for their deliverance.

Today, I harken unto Your Word in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, which says:

 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

In my present circumstances, I choose to give thanks, instead of dwelling on the negatives and hurts. I recount the words of Psalm 107:1-3:

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!”

Lord, I am thankful for……. (state at least three things)

Your Word declares in Psalm 100: 4-5:

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving

    and his courts with praise;

    give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;

    his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

I thank You for Your goodness, love and continued faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.
