#2:  I REBUKE THE SPIRIT OF STRIFE!

"What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?"-James 4:1

#2: I REBUKE THE SPIRIT OF STRIFE!

Heavenly Father,

You are all-powerful, and no problem is too big for You to solve. Today, I intercede on behalf of members of my household (name them) in respect of the spirit of strife. This 'strongman' has wreaked havoc over the minds of…… (name them), and I break his power over their lives.

Your word in Proverbs 17:19-20 declares: “He loveth transgression that loveth strife… and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.” Lord, I take authority over that foul spirit of strife. I declare that every perverse tongue shall lose its power to cause division, discord, hate and disunity within my household.

Your Word in Galatians 5:19-21 points to strife as one of the works of the flesh. It states: “that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Lord, I stand in the gap for ( name them) and declare that my loved ones will turn from their wicked ways. The power of Your Holy spirit will convict their hearts, and they will cease from such mischiefs.

Lord, whatever is the source of this spirit of strife and quarrel which is at work in my family, I decree that the supply is dried up in Jesus’ name. Thank You, Holy Spirit for revealing the source of strife:

Proverbs 10:12:  Hatred stirs up trouble, but love forgives all wrongs.

Proverbs 13: 10:  Where there is strife, there is pride.

Proverbs 28:25: A greedy man stirs up strife.

Proverbs 15:18: A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Proverbs 16:28: A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.

Every spirit of hate, pride, greed, wrath and mischief which is responsible for strife in my family is snuffed out right now, in Jesus name!

O Lord, Proverbs 17:14 states: “Starting a quarrel is like letting out water; stop it before strife breaks out!” Lord I pray that love and understanding prevail over my family, so that strife does not ‘break out’ where there is misunderstanding. Lord, I pray especially for talebearers, gossipers and those who take pleasure in starting quarrels among family members. I cancel the power of those spirits at work in their lives. I declare that what the enemy intended for evil in my family, God is going to turn around for His good.

I pray that forgiveness and reconciliation will begin the healing process among family members where the spirit of strife has divided them. I thank You Lord, and declare that henceforth the light of Christ will shine brightly over the lives of my loved ones. In Jesus’ name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.
