Artist's Commentary:
Life is like an ocean where, at times, you must swim alone against the tides! The words 'Set apart!' are resonating in my spirit for 2019 and beyond. Like the great fish in this painting, life's journey may cause me to 'go against the flow.' i recognize that I'm different, and I was born with purpose... to be a light for Christ among the darkness.
Referring to the playing of a drum set, I heard someone said, "The greatest discipline is knowing when not to play." In life, this translates into one simple word: "No!" It's not easy to say 'No!' when the crowd is saying 'yes.. come play and join in the fun!'
When you walk with God along life's narrow path, there will always be strong currents of criticism, condemnation and temptation that want to pull you down. Get use to it. It comes with this territory called 'life.' But you have to be determined to rise above every challenge, even if, at times, the crashing waves toss you to the ground. Get back up, dust yourself off, and try again!
As illustrated in the painting, heavy mists of uncertainty and disappointments may temporarily blur your vision, making it difficult to see the course ahead. But my faith in God keeps me pressing forward. He is my guide through the stormy weather. Surely as day follows night, He will meet my daily needs and bless me as I live a purpose-filled life .

God has set you apart for such a time like this. Make your own waves in this ocean of life! God is in control. Peace, be still.

I answer Your call to 'come out and be separate from the crowd.' I may not always know what lies ahead in this journey, but my faith in You will guide my every step. Thank You for ordering my steps, today. Help me to overcome every obstacle and temptation that seek to prevent me from achieving Your divine plan for my life. Send Your angels to make straight every crooked path. I stand on Your Word in Jeremiah 29:11 which says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." I thank you, Lord, for good success. In Jesus' name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen. "
