EXHIBITION #2: NATURE'S PEACE....BE STILL!
PAINTING #19: 'THE RETREAT '
"Yes, brother, let me benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ." - Philemon 1:20.

'The Retreat' by Alton Felix. 1991. Acrylic on Canvas . 16 in. x 20 in.
Artist's Commentary:
This 27-year old painting of an ocelot depicts an aged-old, and at times, necessary act of retreating to a quiet and safe place. When confronted with life's problems whose solutions seem so distant, it's always a good idea to take a 'time-out' and seek guidance from God. His wisdom never fails, and it is available to those who ask. 'Waiting' on God in quiet retreat is not a sign of weakness. There are many benefits to be gained, including:
(1) It is a time of refreshing, where my mind, body and spirit are renewed. I regain my strength and focus, where I can make more sober, and less hasty decisions about my situation.
(2) Relationships are rebuilt, especially my relationship with God. As I seek his face in prayer, I build trust and faith in an awesome and loving God who cares for my well-being.
(3) I find rest. Peace pervades my mind, and rest is inevitable. I 'let go' and I 'let God' lead me.
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) states:
" But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Always remember, in spite of how difficult one's circumstances may seem, God is always in control. Peace, be still.
All honour and glory belong to God, and His Son Jesus! Be blessed.

MY PRAYER
I run to you in quiet surrender, as I find peace and safety in Your presence. I pray for divine guidance concerning this situation (state problem) and wait in joyful expectation for Your answer. Renew my strength and my faith in You. Protect me from all those attacks that seek to overwhelm me. I thank You for Your love and wisdom. In Jesus' name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen. "
