EXHIBITION #5: PROPHECY, PESTILENCE AND PURPOSE
PAINTING # 37: O SAMARIA!
“25 And there was a great famine in Samaria: ” – 2 King 6:25
''O Samaria!' by Alton Felix. 2015. Acrylic on board.
Artist's Commentary :
This painting is a snap-shot of the extent of human suffering during life's crises, including famine, natural disasters and pandemics. Here the starving child ekes out a bit of sustenance from his mother's breast (see 2 Kings 7) . Daily hunger is the reality of many around the world.
During this dreaded COVID-19 pandemic we do not have to look too far to find someone in desperate need.
Let us be our brother's keeper. Be encouraged today to give and help save a dying soul. Be blessed.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of salvation, and for sending Your Son, Jesus to die for my sins. I pray that I continue to make Him my Lord and Saviour during this pandemic.
Lord, in times of great human pain and suffering, I continue to pray for those who are grieving owing to the deaths of loved ones. Comfort them and give them the grace to deal with their pain. Empower me so that I can be of help to the poor and needy. Bless me, and use me as a conduit to help alleviate their suffering.
O Lord, show mercy towards those who are sick, and give them that healing touch that they desperately seek. For those who continue to be unemployed, let their daily needs be met. Open new doors of opportunities for them.
To those who are disillusioned as a result of the tragic events of this pandemic, let them hear the shout of hope for a brighter tomorrow. I pray against spirits of depression, fear and loneliness, which distort the frequency of Your Word, and can negatively influence their thoughts and behaviour. I pray that their ‘spiritual eyes’ be opened so they can see beyond their present circumstances. Unblock their ‘spiritual ears’ so they can listen attentively, and understand Your Word.
In Jesus’ name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.
