ART OF PRAYER #8: A PRAYER FOR THE ELDERLY
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the elderly in my country, and pray for divine intervention during this scourge of COVID-19. O Lord, the old are most susceptible to the virus, and they number the highest among the casualties of this pandemic. O Lord, remember Your promise in Proverbs 16:31 which says:
"Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life."
I pray that their gray hair will be by many as seen as a crown of glory.
Preserve their lives, O Lord, during this pandemic.
Psalm 90:10 reminds us that:
'The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.'
Yes Lord, help us through these times of toil and trouble. I declare that no pandemic will rob them from living to their fullest until the promised years of 70 or more.
Your Word in Psalm 71:9 says:
"Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent."
I pray that the elderly will be treated with respect, and will be appreciated for their many positive contributions to the families and communities.
I pray for divine protection over the elderly and for Your healing touch upon those who may be sick at this time. For as Leviticus 19:32 states
“You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord."
Let the elderly continue to be beacons of hope and living testimonies of Your righteousness.
In Jesus' name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.
