Going Beyond Boundaries...

EXHIBITION #3: JOURNEY TO THE OTHER SIDE

PAINTING #24:  'MY DRY PLACE'

'My Dry Place'  by  Alton Felix. 2017.  Acrylic on Stone.  14 in. x  18 in. approx.

Artist's Commentary:

Joseph remembered God‘s saving grace at the birth of his second son:

“And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” - Genesis 41: 52 (NKJV)

Joseph called his place of  suffering “the land of my affliction.“ Yet we know how God turned his burdens into blessings - all  for His honour and for His glory.

I  called the land of  affliction - a dry place, where at times it feels as though Jesus is asleep , and prayers go unanswered. Nothing seems to grow there!

However, this painting is a reminder that God can turn every dry place into an oasis of blessings. This symbolism is seen in the painting where two freshly-picked limes sit on a window sill - a dry place!

The power of 'two!' Although we may feel lonely, we are never alone in our 'dry places.' Rest assured, Christ is always there as our Rock. The stony surface upon which this painting  is done, should always remind us of the solid Rock upon which we stand, when everywhere around us is like sinking sand. It is Him who guides and provides for us....

For Isaiah 58:11 says,

"And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail."

In my dry place, I will live and not die!

Declare it over your life! “For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction!” - Genesis 41: 52  (NKJV).

The painting is a reminder that God can cause us to be fruitful in a place of hardship and lack. He did it for Joseph,  and He can do it for you and for me. Psalm 107:35 says:

"He changes a wilderness into a pool of water And a dry land into springs of water;"

For this to happen we must thirst after God and His Word:

"O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water."- Psalm 63:1

Be blessed.

MY PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Great is Your name, and You are worthy to be praised!  I am battle-wearied and in desperate need of Your divine intervention to calm this storm in my life. Not my will, but Your will be done in my life, O Lord. Your grace is sufficient for me.  I trust Your Word which says, “You have caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction!” - Help me to trust You more,  and to focus less on myself. Give me the anointing that break every yoke in my life! O Lord, show me how I can be a blessing to others, even during this dry place in my life. In my land of affliction, I declare fruitfulness over my prayer-life, and  the study of Your Word. Thank You, for turning my burdens into blessings! In Jesus’ name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen!
